This can happen when the customer pays in one currency but the seller receives payouts in another. In international marketplaces, the checkout currency, marketplace base currency, and seller payout currency do not always match.
For example, a customer may place an order in USD, while the seller receives payouts in EUR or GBP. In these cases, Stripe may apply currency conversion during payment processing or payout settlement.
As a result, the final payout amount may differ slightly from the original order value due to:
- Currency exchange rate fluctuations
- Payment processing fees
- Cross-border payout fees
- Bank or payment provider conversion charges
- Differences between checkout and settlement currencies
Where supported, sellers are normally paid in the settlement currency configured for their connected Stripe account. Any required currency conversion is handled automatically by the payment provider.
Sellers can review payout details, balances, and currency information directly within their Stripe dashboard.
