How do refunds work?
A refund is processed against the original Light Ideas order so the buyer refund, seller entitlement and order record stay connected. Refunds can be full or partial, depending on what has been agreed and what needs to be returned.
For an order containing your products, review the request and agree the appropriate outcome with the customer. Use the refund controls for the relevant order and enter the amount or items being refunded. Do not treat a refund as complete until its status confirms that it has been successfully processed.
A completed refund reduces the amount due to the seller. If the affected funds have not yet been paid out, the adjustment can be reflected before the next transfer. If a payout has already taken place, the adjustment is reflected through the payment balance and Light Ideas records. Partial refunds reduce the entitlement only by the refunded amount.
Where the buyer paid using a supported local currency through Stripe Adaptive Pricing, the refund is made against the original payment and the buyer is refunded in the original transaction currency. Payment processing and conversion fees retained by the payment provider may still affect the seller or platform accounting even though the buyer receives the agreed refund amount.
Returns, exchanges and responsibility for return postage are separate from the payment step. Follow the applicable customer rights and your published shop policy when deciding whether goods must be returned and who is responsible for return delivery.
