Payments on Light Ideas have had a major upgrade too.

We’ve built Light Ideas Payments — our new marketplace payment system, designed around the way customers and sellers use Light Ideas.

For sellers, payments, payouts and refunds are now much more closely integrated with the marketplace and Seller Dashboard.

For customers, we’ve introduced local currency shopping.

Customers can choose to browse and pay in supported currencies including:

GBP · EUR · USD · AUD · CAD · INR · JPY · SEK

That means someone discovering a light from another country can see prices and complete their purchase in a currency that’s more familiar to them. Where currency conversion is required, the conversion cost is paid by the buyer — not the seller.

We’re also supporting convenient ways to pay including Apple Pay, Google Pay, cards and Link, where available.

It’s another step towards making Light Ideas a marketplace where great lighting can be discovered — and bought — beyond borders.

We want selling lighting on Light Ideas to feel simple — whether you’re an independent maker, designer, established brand or retailer.

That’s why we’ve completely overhauled the tools available to sellers.

The new Seller Dashboard brings your shop together in one place, with improved tools for products, orders, delivery, media, coupons, reports and more.

You can now:

• Create simple and variable products with variations
• Build listings using your own reusable Seller Media library
• Manage orders, fulfilment and tracking
• Set your own delivery pricing and rules
• Create and manage coupons
• View Statements & Reports
• Customise your shop’s branding, policies, social links and SEO
• Manage your payout setup directly from your seller area

We’ve also improved the experience across mobile, so managing your shop doesn’t have to mean sitting at a computer.

And importantly, Light Ideas marketplace commission remains 0%.

We’re building more than somewhere to list products. We want Light Ideas to be a marketplace and community built specifically for people who want to buy and sell lighting.

We’ve been a little quieter than usual recently — but there’s been a lot happening behind the scenes at Light Ideas.

Over the past few weeks, we’ve been rebuilding and improving the platform for both buyers and sellers.

Some of the improvements include:

• Improved product search and discovery — making it easier to find the right lighting
• Better product listings — including variations, improved images and richer product information
• A much-improved Seller Dashboard — bringing products, orders, delivery and shop management together
• Seller Media — giving sellers their own reusable image library
• Improved orders, delivery and tracking
• More flexible delivery options for sellers and buyers
• Improved payments, payouts and refunds
• Local currency shopping for customers around the world
• Light Ideas Accounts — improving sign up, sign in and account management
• A simpler seller application and setup process

We’re also continuing to lay the groundwork for the Light Ideas app.

A lot of this work isn’t immediately visible from the outside, but it gives us more control over the experience and lets us build Light Ideas specifically around people who want to buy and sell lighting.

We’d also like to apologise to sellers who have been waiting for their applications to be approved while this work has been taking place.

Rather than welcome new sellers halfway through these changes, we wanted to make sure the improved seller experience was ready first.

Buyers will be able to find products that can actually be delivered to their country.

For sellers, delivery options are taken directly from your Seller Shipping settings — no further details required.

We’ve improved the structured data for individual products, helping search engines such as Google better understand your listings.

When adding or editing a product, make sure you select all relevant product attributes. These now provide additional structured product information, helping search engines better understand your products.

The more complete and accurate your listing, the better.

Finding products within a seller’s shop is now faster, more intuitive and ready for the upcoming Light Ideas app.

What’s new?

✅ Refine results using Product Type, Room, Design, Material, Colour, Technology and more

✅ Only attributes used by that seller are displayed on their shop
