If a customer disputes a payment (e.g., by filing a chargeback), Stripe temporarily withholds the disputed amount from your balance while the case is reviewed. As a seller you may need to provide evidence such as proof of delivery, tracking information or communication with the customer to contest the dispute.
If you win the dispute, the withheld funds will be returned to you. If you lose, the payment is refunded to the customer, and a chargeback fee may apply. Since Stripe handles disputes directly, the outcome is determined by the card issuer, not the marketplace.
To reduce the risk of disputes, we recommend maintaining clear product descriptions, accurate shipping details, and prompt communication with customers.
